I was hired on as a sub-contractor under Memoir Agency
. We had the pleasure of working with UCF's brand new campus in the heart of downtown Orlando. Forever in gratitude for those who helped make this happen, I'd like to give a special thank you to Cole NeSmith, Jamie Giller, Mike Kilbride, Danielle Moore, Chris Mock, Domenica Rohrborn, Renee King, & Heather Waroff.
It was really cool to see a college building in the construction process. As a student it's not something you consider when walking through the classroom hallways. We started with an empty room & my brain became overwhelmed with possibility.
After many concepts & revisions there was a late night during the ideation process that sent me down a black hole of ideas & endless drawing. Our goal was to inspire one to "unleash their potential" so I tried to apply that mantra by aligning my illustrative style into the design.
With a week timeline to complete the painting, I got to work.
Called in some backup from Renee King (@ren_kin), made a mess of my new work shoes, & checked out the bathroom mirror lighting.
Freestyled the wall except for the lettering... used a projector for that to save time.
Seeing students & staff working in the room made the space feel complete. I wish I had the opportunity to have a study room like this when I was a student!
UCF is one of the largest schools in the nation so the coverage was incredible. I got to work with Nicole Dudenhoefer & Nick Leyva from UCF marketing & they wrote a great piece on the project. Check it out here!
So thankful. During my time as a UCF student, I was always asking about how we can transform the campus through murals & installations. So grateful to be considered for the job when the opportunity arouse. UCF gave me so much more than a traditional education & I hope other students discover the many ways to Unleash Their Potential during their time there. GO KNIGHTS!
